In addition to the AGP Knowledge Management Strategy, the training included topics concerning Knowledge Management concepts such as capturing and sharing information, managing computer files and folders and video-capturing techniques. In 2009 Ethiopian Fiscal year, AGP prepared a KM strategy and implementation plan to promote good practices and to scale-up innovation in order to influence policies and contribute towards the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources (MoANR) KM framework. The purpose of the training was to familiarize participants with the AGP KM strategy and enable participants to develop the knowledge and skills to effectively implement the KM strategy in their work places to achieve AGP objectives.

Participants described the training as very interesting and extremely useful.  Bogale Terefe, a team leader at the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock said: “This is one of the best trainings I have attended. It was presented in an interesting way and gave me a very clear idea about what Knowledge Management is, and how it can be applied in our work place.”

At the end of the three- day training, Keberu Belayneh, Federal AGP PCU Coordinator described the training as very useful while pointing out that Knowledge Management is a priority activity for AGP. He urged regional AGP CUs to plan for KM trainings for the first quarter of 2011 Ethiopian Fiscal Year. Accordingly, regional AGP CUs discussed the importance and included woreda level KM trainings in their respective plans.

Mintesnot Kasa, CDSF KM and Communication Specialist; Andualem Waleligne, CDSF ICT specialist and Teshome Sahalu, AGP Capacity Development Specialist and Zena Afework, a KM and Communication expert at the World Bank, co-facilitated the training.
